The Traffic Directorate is headed by Senior Police Officer Holger Reitz
The Traffic Directorate includes the command centre, the traffic service, the traffic commissioner's office and the traffic accident prevention/victim protection organizational unit.
The command and control center
The Traffic Management Unit evaluates all traffic accidents, analyzes accident clusters and phenomena and processes them within the police. It also takes part in accident commissions and traffic surveys to ensure the safe design of road traffic areas.
The traffic service
In addition to general traffic monitoring, the traffic service officers in the district are responsible for monitoring commercial passenger and goods traffic as well as traffic monitoring with technical equipment.
The main focus is particularly on the three "killers" in road traffic:
- Speed
- The influence of alcohol and drugs on the road
- Not wearing a seatbelt
In addition, the traffic service also combats the other main causes of accidents:
- Non-observance of the right of way/priority
- Errors when turning
- Errors when overtaking
- Non-compliance with the safety distance
- Wrong behavior by and towards pedestrians and cyclists
The traffic commissioner's office
The Siegen traffic commissioner's office, with additional locations in Kreuztal and Bad Berleburg, is responsible for processing all traffic-related reports
. In addition to traffic accident processing, including the evaluation of accident traces, carrying out investigations and questioning those involved in accidents, reports of traffic offenses and traffic violations are processed until they are handed over to the public prosecutor's office or the fines office.
Traffic accident prevention/victim protection
The road safety advisors in the Traffic Accident Prevention/Victim Protection organizational unit are the point of contact for all questions relating to correct behaviour in road traffic and victim protection in traffic matters. They offer target group-oriented advice for all age groups and all groups of road users, such as kindergarten and school children, young drivers, senior citizens and cyclists.
